What is EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a simple healing modality that anyone can do. EFT combines acupressure with language to work on various issues - from fears and phobias to headaches, heartaches, and more.

When performing EFT, you will tap on various points of the body while repeating or thinking of a specific phrase. For example, if you are afraid of flying, you might tap on "my fear of flying."

The tapping points are simple to memorize, and once you have learned the basic formula, you will be able to use EFT on an infinite number of problems and issues.

The Theory Behind EFT

EFT is based on thousands of years of Chinese medicine. The same theory behind acupuncture is what drives EFT.

Gary Craig, founder of EFT, describes EFT in the following way:

EFT is based on a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren't necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says...

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

And because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with our emotions the following statement has also proven to be true...

"Our unresolved negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases."

Thus, by tapping on various meridian points, you can clear out negative emotions and feel better, physically and emotionally.

Note: You do not need to believe in meridians or energy medicine to benefit from EFT. Many people believe that EFT may work due to disrupting the body's electrical system, or through the power of suggestion. Do not let your skepticism about "alternative healing" stop you from giving EFT a try! At most, you might feel silly for a moment.

Too Good to be True?

Now, does this sound too good to be true? Especially when it involves something as simple as tapping? Well, EFT may seem a little strange at first, but once you get over the initial "silliness," you'll realize that it is quite effective.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that EFT can be effective in helping with:

  • Phobias
  • Migraines
  • Allergies
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Pain
  • Emotional blocks
  • Procrastination
  • Weight loss
  • Stopping smoking
  • Health issues
  • And more!

Since EFT is free to try and absolutely harmless otherwise, it could not hurt to try EFT on your problem. You may be pleasantly surprised!
