No More EFT-CCs
You may or may not be aware that Gary Craig, founder of EFT, has phased out the use of the EFT-CC designation for his newer and stricter EFT certifications. As quoted in this letter from Pat Carrington, Craig has said:
"Those using the EFT-CC, EFT-ADV, EFT Level 1, EFT Level 2 and EFT Level 3 or any other non-official form of EFT credentialing should discontinue using them immediately. I realize this is different than my much softer, previous, stance and I apologize for any inconvenience. However, as clearly stated above, these designations have obviously become misleading and there is a compelling legal need to clean this up in the public interest. Please cooperate as the misleading nature of such designations may create unwanted legal complications."
In response to this, Pat Carrington was concerned Gary Craig might sue people for using EFT-CC designations. You can read her full letter here:

The question is, will people (such as myself) stop using the EFT-CC designation if they earned it? Gary Craig offered a deal to take the new test if you'd already been certified, but for some bizarre reason closed this down on January 1, 2010. If you missed the notice, you're now required to pay $300 for re-certification. (Which I don't think is fair. If you've already had an EFT-CC, you should be able to upgrade for free at anytime. Not everyone knows about this change yet.)
Personally, since I don't use the EFT-CC letters after my name anyway, I don't plan on re-certifying at this time. I missed the deadline (not knowing there was one) and frankly haven't had my clients care one way or the other whether I had a few letters after my name when it came to EFT. I do think it would be fairer if Gary Craig extended the grandfathering past January 1, because most certifying organizations usually allow for some sort of grandfathering without a set drop-dead deadline like that.
I will continue to list the fact that I completed the EFT-CC certification in my resume, because it is a fact that I completed it. I don't think Craig can sue for that...after all, it's a fact that I earned this designation by passing the test. It's like saying, well, since your high school now has changed its requirements for getting a degree, you can't say you earned a high school degree anymore. Nope, sorry, I still earned my high school degree, and I did pass the EFT-CC, even if he's got a newer certification now.
This isn't to say the newer certification is a bad thing. It looks to be quite rigorous and have some teeth. I just feel it's not fair to tell people they can't use their previous certification (which was done by a third party at any rate) and then only give until January 1 time to take the new test.
